Woo Hoo!!!!! Success Story

Some good news and a big thank you!

January 2009 I fell and suffered a compression fracture of my T4 vertebrate.  Because of this fracture I was scheduled to have a bone density test.  As a result of the test it was discovered that I had osteoporosis in my hips and osteopenia in my spine.    I was put on Fosamax by my doctor along with generic calcium supplements.  Since this time I have started training 2x a week and taking AdvoCare MNS3 and their calcium supplements.  When I went for my two-year followup my bone density has increased.  I now only have osteopenia in my hips and my spine is osteoporosis free!

Another success story for me because of AdvoCare is:
Last year (4/21/10) my cholesterol numbers were:
Total:  167
LDL (bad): 100
HDL (good): 56
Triglyceride level:  59

This year (4/13/11) they are much better...
Total:  159
LDL (bad): 79
HDL (good): 64
Triglyceride level:  72

I believe this entire change is due to the AdvoCare OmegaPlex!  I wasn't taking any type of fish oil before this.

Because of AdvoCare my diet has changed for the better and my supplements are the best that are out there.

Day 20 - 24

Well I finished the 24 day challenge and I lost 5 lbs! Tony lost 7!  I am under 150 and working toward the low 140s so that is good.  My goal is a size 6 pair of shorts for the summer - we shall see.

The last few days were difficult.  A lot of the reasons are silly but they are valid.  I just got tired of always being good.  I know I said let yourself be bad every once in awhile that way you do feel like you are depriving yourself.  I notice that when I am home with the kids all day I do worse than when they are not here or when I am at work.  The kids and I snack all day long.  I wish I could say they are always good snacks but you know bad snacks always seem to be better :)

I do know that I lost inches because my pants are loose in the leg and waist but no to loose just the right amount.  I am very happy with the products and will continue to use them.

I hope that this will help people look at what they want out of life health wise and realize that you can get there with work.  The products definitely helped me reach my goals.  I realize that the cost seems high but if you look at the cost on a per day basis in about $7.

Day 15 - 19; January 24 - 28 - 24 day challenge discount ends Monday Jan 31

Well this week has gone a bit better.  Even thought I have eaten some treats that aren't really diet friendly :(  but you know what you don't get to upset and you start the next meal/snack on the right foot.  You can't sabotage the whole thing with one/two/ OK four bad choices.

My meals during the day are always the same (you may have noticed that earlier)

Pre-Breakfast - Spark with Catalyst, Yellow pack in the MNS3 strip pack, my thyroid meds
Breakfast - Meal replacement shake with the two White pack in the MNS3 strip pack - have coffee with skim milk on the way to work (LOVE my coffee)
Morning Snack - cup of fruit followed by water
Pre-Lunch - Spark with my 2nd Yellow pack in the MNS3 strip pack
Lunch - Salad with a protein; hummus and veggies with water
Afternoon Snack - I try for fruit but this is when temptation hits me for cookies, chip, little debbies, and the like
Dinner - This week we have had:
  • Monday:  Chicken & Whole Wheat Pasta
  • Tuesday:  Taco Salad
  • Wednesday:  Roast Beef sandwiches (on whole grain bread) cooked in the slow cooker
  • Thursday: Tilapia, Green Beans & Brown Rice
  • Friday: Brats and Sweet Potato fries
Night Time Snack - really haven't had one this week.  I have cheated with sugar wafers (have them on hand for a cookie Miss C wanted to make last weekend).

The discounted price for the 24 day challenge ends Monday January 31.  Please email me if you are interested at lmaltomari (at) frontier (dot) com

Day 11 - 14: January 20 - 23

To say I am excited about phase II is an understatement.  We get to add back in dairy, wheat products, and coffee!  Three of my favorite things.  However, you still have to moderate what you are eating.  You still need to eat protein, veggies, and fruits.

For the most part here is my menu over those past 4 days:

Breakfast - start with Spark, Catalyst, and vitamins (1st of the MAX strips); then I have a meal replacement shake (I LOVE these)
snack - cup of fruit
lunch - salad with veggies and a meat (chicken or steak)
afternoon snack - this varies (I had humus and veggies, rice cakes with PB, and even had cookies)
afternoon -had some spark
dinner - has been meat, veggie, rice or sweet potatoes.

My weight has dropped another pound! so has Tony's.  I am very happy with my weight loss to date.  I still need a few more pounds to reach my goal for this 24 days and I have 10 days to go!

Day 8 - January 17

Only 3 days to go.... and of course it is a school holiday today - MLK was being celebrated.  Kids and I went to CostCo, Target and out to lunch.  Initially we were going to go to California Pizza Kitchen (a favorite of our family) but since Tony was working we decided to wait until Sunday (off the cleanse) to go with the whole family.   We were between Bob Evans and Cracker Barrel.  Kids choose Cracker Barrel because of checkers.  bad choice not much there to eat during the cleanse.

Breakfast - fiber drink, probiotic restore, fruit
Morning Snack - rice cakes with peanut butter
Lunch - 2 eggs scrambled with wheat toast and hot decaf tea
Afternoon Snack - rice cakes with peanut butter
Dinner - Salmon, Sweet Potato fries, Salad

Day 6 & 7 - The weekend edition

This weekend was not a good one for me.  I started each day with a migraine.  One thing about my migraines is that they last two days and I crave salty foods - particularly potato chips.  I did really well I did not succumb to my craving.  I did open a bag but did not partake.

One thing about the cleanse and all diets is that if you go 80/20 or 90/10 you are doing good if the larger number is on the following side.  This weekend I was on the smaller number side.  Which is OK because once I felt better I was back on the plan.

Saturday January 15 - Day 6
Breakfast - priobiotic pills, spark -- followed by Rice Chex with milk
Mid-morning snack - bowl of fruit
Lunch - pizza (CPK Margarita)
Afternoon  Snack - peanut butter, rice cake with raspberries
Dinner - ????? will have to come back
Bedtime snack - ?????

Sunday January 16 - Day 7
Breakfast -  pills, spark -- followed by Rice Chex with milk
Mid-morning snack - apple with peanut butter
Lunch - salad with turkey
Afternoon Snack - rice cake, peanut butter & raspberries
Dinner - Turkey, sweet potatoes (roasted and mashed), roasted asparagus
Bedtime Snack - ????

Day 5 - January 14

Welcome to the fifth day of this journey....  Right now I am thinking about how this isn't that hard to do.  It takes some planning for meals.  Nothing worse then planning on having shrimp & rice and turns out the shrimp is frozen.  Well turns out everything was frozen.  So I defrosted some chicken in the microwave and cooked it in the oven.  So it turned out well.  I need to more on top of the meal planning so that does not happen again.

Tomorrow we are having Turkey, sweet potatoes, and a green veggie (not sure which one yet)
Sunday will be fish.

Here is what I ate today

Breakfast - probiotic restore and an orange, hot tea with lemon
Mid-morning snack (post workout) - rice cake with peanut butter and an apple
Lunch - salad with diced chicken, apples and cashews
Afternoon Snack - bowl of fruit
Dinner - shrimp, rice & hummus (this was a new one for us but very good)

One thing I want to add about AdvoCare is that everything is tested by a SciMed board.  What this board does it to make surethat all AdvoCare products are formulated with the highest quality ingredients based on the latest scientific research.

Day 4 - January 13

Today is the 4th day - why do I always start with that you can tell by the title.  Who knows but it works for me!

Here is some news -- weighed myself this a.m. and I was 147.5!!!  woo hoo!!!!

Breakfast - probiotic restore pills, apple with peanut butter & vanilla meal replacement shake
Mid-Morning snack - spark followed by one cup of fresh mixed berries
Lunch - salad with tuna, carrots, and walnuts
Afternoon snack - Spark and an apple
Dinner -  Chicken, brown rice & green beans
Late-night snack - peanut butter & rice cake

Here is something you may not know about AdvoCare - they have hundreds of unpaid professional athletes that endorse the products.  Only paid endorser is Drew Brees.  If athletes take these products from NCAA, Olympic to the  Pros they must know something.  Read about these endorsers here:

Day 3 - January 12

Today is the 3rd day on the cleanse.  This is the 'hump' day.  Last day of the fiber drink for 4 days and then onto probiotic restore.  I have been getting hungry so I think I need to eat a bit more fruit in the AM Snack or add some oatmeal (not sure on that one).

Breakfast - Spark, Fiber drink, orange
Mid-Morning Snack - berries
Lunch - Salad with tuna, carrot, and cashews
Mid-Afternoon Snack - rice cake & peanut butter
Dinner - Vanilla Meal Replacement Shake, Eggs, Apple & peanut butter

Day 2 - January 11

Today is the second day on this journey.  I wanted to start by writing why I am doing this.  1) to be accountable to someone - not just me but someone else.  If I can do this so can anyone I know; 2) I believe in these products I am using.  I enjoy taking the AdvoCare.  Yes sometimes I get tired of drinking spark when I would rather have a soda pop but you know what - I can have that soda pop because of the AdvoCare; 3) I am an advisor for AdvoCare and I want everyone that I know to use these products or at least give them a try (They have a 100% satisfaction guarantee).

My meals for Day 2:

Start of the day - spark, fiber drink for the Herbal Cleanse, followed by fruit
Morning Snack - fresh fruit
Lunch - salad with chicken; apple & walnuts
Afternoon snack - spark, rice cake with peanut butter &  apple
Dinner - Mahi Mahi, Brown Rice & corn (I know not the best veggie but still)

Tonight, I drove out in the snow to an AdvoCare event.  It went well.  I got there right at the start so I did not miss any of the great stories.  A women there lost 154 lbs this past year using the product - that is less than I weigh!  AMAZING!  A couple there has earned over $70,000 in 9 months!   WOW!  I need to work harder on that one.

Day 1 - January 10

Today is the first day of the challenge.  Tony & I are both doing the challenge.

My starting weight: 151.5 - will add measurements later

Morning - had my spark (cherry flavored); then had my fiber drink (this time I shook it up instead of stirring and it was much easier to drink)

Mid Morning - fruit - raspberries, blueberries & blackberries

Lunch - lettuce & tuna; walnuts; 1/4 granny smith apple.

Mid-Afternoon - spark with a rice cake (plain); had rest of fruit after kids got home from school

Dinner: Chicken, Sweet Potatoes, & green beans with seltzer water to drink.  Also, had my OmegaPlex.

Worked out today - it was tough but worthwhile!

Tomorrow - I have an AdvoCare event in Columbus Ohio.
